Changing your DPI?
Use sensitivity – to keep the same feel.
Your numbers are remembered on this device. To check your mouse's real DPI, use the mouse DPI test.
What is eDPI?
eDPI (effective DPI) is your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. It's a single number for how fast your aim moves, so players with different settings can compare. 800 DPI at 0.4 sensitivity and 400 DPI at 0.8 both give an eDPI of 320, and feel the same in game.
eDPI only compares players of the same game, because each game turns a different amount per unit of sensitivity. A Valorant eDPI of 280 and a CS2 eDPI of 280 feel completely different.
What is cm/360?
cm/360 is how far you move your mouse to turn a full circle in game. It works across games, so it's the best way to compare sensitivity between different shooters. A higher number means a lower sensitivity. Many tactical-shooter players sit somewhere around 30 to 60 cm/360, while faster games such as Overwatch tend to be lower.
Typical pro eDPI
These are rough ranges most professional players fall into. They're a reference, not a target: the right sensitivity is the one you aim well with.
| Game | Typical pro eDPI | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Valorant | about 200–400 | 800 DPI × 0.35 = 280 |
| Counter-Strike 2 | about 600–1200 | 400 DPI × 2.0 = 800 |
| Apex Legends | about 800–1600 | 800 DPI × 1.5 = 1200 |
| Overwatch 2 | about 3000–6500 | 800 DPI × 5.5 = 4400 |
How sensitivity conversion works
Valorant, Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends, Overwatch 2 and Call of Duty each turn a fixed angle per mouse count at sensitivity 1. Converting is just scaling by those angles, so the converter gives you exactly the same cm/360 in each game. For example, a Valorant sensitivity is about 3.18 times smaller than the CS2 sensitivity that feels the same.
Call of Duty conversions assume the default settings (no extra scaling options). Field of view can make the same sensitivity feel slightly different between games, even with the same cm/360.
Changing DPI without changing your aim
If you raise your DPI, lower your in-game sensitivity by the same factor so your eDPI stays the same. Going from 800 to 1600 DPI means halving your sensitivity. Higher DPI with lower sensitivity can feel a little smoother on high-resolution screens, but the turning speed stays identical.
Frequently asked questions
What's a good eDPI for Valorant?
Most pros use roughly 200–400 eDPI, with many around 280. If you're far outside that and struggling with aim, try moving towards it gradually.
Is a lower eDPI better?
Not automatically. Lower sensitivity helps precise aim but needs more arm movement and a bigger mouse pad. Pick what lets you both turn and track comfortably.
Should I use 400, 800 or 1600 DPI?
Any of them works if you adjust the in-game sensitivity to match. 800 and 1600 are common choices today.
Does Windows pointer speed affect eDPI?
Not in games that use raw input, which includes all the games listed here. It does affect your desktop cursor.
