Connect your DualSense and press any button

Browsers only reveal a controller after you press one of its buttons while this page is open.

How to connect a DualSense to your computer

  1. With a cable: plug it in with a USB-C cable that carries data. Some cheap cables only charge; if nothing happens, try another.
  2. With Bluetooth: hold the Create button (top left of the touchpad) and the PS button together for about three seconds, until the light around the touchpad blinks quickly. Then add it in your computer's Bluetooth settings, where it appears as "DualSense Wireless Controller".
  3. Press any button with this page open. Browsers only show a controller after you press something.

Chrome and Edge recognise the DualSense with all its buttons named. If the buttons show as numbers instead, try one of those browsers. The DualSense Edge works the same way.

What this test checks on a DualSense

Browsers can't reach the adaptive triggers' resistance, the motion sensors, the light bar, the speaker or the built-in microphone, so those can only be checked on a PS5.

DualSense stick drift

Stick drift, where the camera or your character moves on its own, is one of the most common DualSense faults. It usually comes from wear or dust inside the stick sensors. The drift check measures how far each stick sits from the centre while you leave it alone:

Resting offsetResult
Below 0.05No drift. The stick returns cleanly to centre.
0.05–0.12Slight offset. Most games hide this with a deadzone.
0.12 or moreDrift. Likely noticeable in games with small deadzones.

How to fix a drifting DualSense

  1. Reset it. Turn off your PS5, then press the small reset button in the hole on the back of the controller, next to the Sony logo, with a pin for about five seconds. Reconnect it with a USB cable and press the PS button.
  2. Update the firmware. On a PS5 it updates automatically. On Windows, Sony's "Firmware updater for DualSense wireless controller" app does the same job.
  3. Raise the deadzone in the game's controller settings to hide a small offset.
  4. Clean around the sticks. Rotate each stick in wide circles, with short bursts of compressed air around the base.
  5. Use the warranty. Sony repairs or replaces drifting controllers under warranty. A screenshot of the drift result here is useful evidence.
  6. On a DualSense Edge, you can swap in a replacement stick module instead of replacing the whole controller.

Frequently asked questions

Can I test a PS5 controller without a PS5?

Yes. Connect it to any computer or many phones with a cable or Bluetooth, open this page and press a button. You can check every button, both triggers and the sticks.

Why is my DualSense not detected?

Press a button while this page is in front. Then try a different USB-C cable, re-pair it over Bluetooth, and close apps such as DS4Windows or DSX, which can hide the controller or make it appear as an Xbox controller.

Can it test the adaptive triggers or haptics?

No. Browsers can read how far L2 and R2 are pressed, but can't set the trigger resistance or play the DualSense's detailed haptics.

Does the touchpad work?

Pressing the touchpad down is a button and shows here. Swiping on the touchpad isn't available to browsers.

Is anything sent from my controller?

No. Everything is read and shown inside your browser.
